aerydis.com

As of writing this, 1 hour and 19 minutes ago I bought the domain aerydis.com from Cloudflare Registrar. And since then I have been asking ChatGPT things: how to manage my site, how to put things in it, how to make sure I don't ruin something that seemed impossible to ruin. I even asked very belated questions like, “How do I use Git?”
So I have done this much. Barebones structure, Git, Github, and Cloudflare pages. It feels as if I am witnessing the birth of stars whenever I create a subpath. It's that miraculous for me; I'm not used to this yet and I'm just happy it works. I feel like a child clapping their hands at something her parents would find absolutely mundane.
And whenever I connect the subpaths with hyperlinks and find that I can exercise my extensor digitorum to produce a click on my mouse with my cursor aimed at the little word that says 'About' to actually go to the 'About' page and read the text I wrote that says “This page contains information about me” I briefly register a dopamine spike akin to how one would feel upon finding their wild, flailing guess was correct on a stray exam. It's kind of embarrassing. I did spend a minute just clicking on About and Home and Blog and Home again and Projects and Home again and so on, marvelling at how far humanity has come.
If subpaths are stars, and if I am a god, hyperlinks are like creating a constellation.
I'm not sure why I have so little experience in creating and maintaining websites. Considering my interest in technology-everything, it seems almost obvious for me to have done some web work. But I haven't. Now that I have my domain like a medieval lord I will grow in it flowers and trees, smooth hedges, pave roads and carve little oakwood cottages. And with enough questionable help from large language models I might even be able to anchor my creations into the ground and prevent them from swimming in the clouds or growing in size every quarter hour or disappearing into a depthless void.
So I have this expanse of space as my domain. It is grass-green or space-dark or whatever I want it to be. In it, with half of my mind there spawns this spider's web of big, bright, little things threaded along a network of #0000FF blue or #800080 purple lines.
Happy birthday, aerydis.com.
